The Strongest Eye by Tony Morrison is definitely one of the top books you must read, reviewed by daab-online.de. Some consider him as the best writer of greatest short novels, but we beg the differ. Daab online books review site unanimously put Tony as one of the top writers of the best-selling book authors, not only on our blog, but among the most popular book blogs too. Tony Morrison in this horrified novel follows the story of Pekola, the little girl who sees all, even her mother, as ugly, and she also believes she is ugly . The life of Pecola is really far from what the life of a child should be, growing up in an alcoholic family and with parents who are constantly quarrels, and who themselves had a very unhappy and difficult life.
She believes that the whole accident in her life is because she is not beautiful and that only if she has blue eyes, her life will be much better .. For her, to be beautiful means to be loved and therefore believes that if there is blue eyes all the ruthlessness in her life will be replaced with attention and respect.
But in her life, horrible and immoral events are continually occurring, which are even more troubling.
It is interesting that Pella does not want white skin, which in America, after the Great Depression is the main standard of beauty. By desiring blue eyes, Pekka shows her desire to see things differently and to be seen in a different way. This hopeless longing, but also the many violent events that will happen, including here and the pregnancy of her father, will take this fragile, childish soul literally to madness, which she ultimately believes she has the tiniest eye in the world.
According to Tony Morrison, her novel focuses on how the demonization of an entire race can affect the most vulnerable and most vulnerable member of a society: the child, and even the little girl. She explores social and family aggression that can cause a child to literally get mad. Although she says she chose a single situation, she is still aware that some aspects of Pelkol’s vulnerability are found in all little girls.
It is interesting that the Bible appears throughout the novel as a motive, suggesting that people forget one of the main dogmas in Christianity – that all people are equal before God, regardless of the color of their skin.
